The contractor shall design and construct prototype range control systems capable of detecting pre-ignition conditions and shutting off electric power/gas to the heating element such that ignition does not occur. Protoypes shall be based on results of previous R&D for electric, gas, and electric glass ceramic cooktops. The range control systems shall meet or exceed the Technical Feasbility Performance Goals (UL STP Doc 858-04-01). The contractor shall integrate prototypes into current-model production residential cooktop/ranges commonly found in homes, provide a list of all parts used in modifying baseline production-model ranges to meet the TFPG, provide cost and supplier information for each functional component, test to measure, characterize and document performance of three modified prototype temperature control systems, estimate production and consumer costs, conduct demonstration tests and provide data analysis and recommendations. Anticipted release of the Request for Quotation (RFQ) is July 10, 2008. Interested sources shall email their request for a copy of the quotation to Kmiles@cpsc.gov. Technical questions regarding this request for quotation must be submitted via email to Kmiles@cpsc.gov on or before 3:00 pm, July 25, 2008. Questions will not be answered over the phone and questions submitted after this date will not be considered. Date and time for submission of quotes is August 5, 2008.
