Cardiothoracic Surgery Research Program. The Laboratory is an intramural research program within the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute in Bethesda Maryland. The Director of the Laboratory is Keith A. Horvath, MD.

The major interests of the Laboratory include cell-based adjuncts to Surgery, Cardiac Bioengineering, and Xenotransplantation. In these sections the topics of gene therapy, transmyocardial laser revascularization, robotic surgery, cell therapy and biologic ventricular assistance are being investigated.
