De Novo Bank Directors Seminar

The New York Regional Office of the FDIC in concert with the New Jersey League of Community Bankers and the New Jersey Bankers Association hosted a one-day seminar in Jamesburg on September 10, 2008 for directors of newly chartered financial institutions. The seminar included a morning panel discussion covering the Roles and Responsibilities of Bank Directors and the Importance of a Strong Control Environment. For the rest of the day, the directors chose three breakout sessions from among the following topics:

  • Interest Rate Risk
  • Information Technology & Data Security
  • Bank Secrecy Act & Anti Money Laundering
  • Consumer Compliance

Panel discussions were conducted by senior staff of the FDIC, the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the Federal Reserve Bank Philadelphia, the Office of the Comptroller of Currency, and the Office of Thrift Supervision. Breakout sessions were provided by examiner and managerial staff.
