General Information
The following is a list of software packages used to view certain CD-ROMs. Some are
contained on the CD-ROM, while others you will need to order or get from our FTP site.
If you plan on getting the software via ftp, please be sure to use the back button to get
back into the CD-ROM Catalog Order Form. If you do not, you will lose all the order information
you have entered so far.
IMDISP (DOS)
System Reqirements:
CPU: IBM PC, XT, AT or better
VIDEO: CGA, EGA, VGA, SVGA (Orchid, ATI, Everex, Trident), PGA
RAM: 256 Kb minimum, more strongly recommended, extended/expanded memory
supported
DISK: Hard drive & CD-ROM drive required
This is a command-driven image utility program that allows a wide variety of operations.
Software features include display, browse, palette manipulation, image filtering, histogram,
plotting, multiple image buffers, batch files, profile, refresh, set, stretch, and text and supports
PDS, FITS, VICAR, GIF, and raster formats. Each function has several arguments that allow the
user to select different parameters. Please note that IMDISP is distributed by the NSSDC as
unsupported software.
This software is located ON the following CD-ROMs:
International Halley Watch, Magellan GxDRs, and Mars Digital Image Model
This software can be used for the following (but it is not on the CD-ROM)
ROSAT, Galileo Images, Magellan (MIDRs), Pre-Magellan, Viking Images, Voyager
PDSWin
System Requirements:
- IBM PC 386 or better
- 4 Mbytes RAM
- Windows 3.1
- 256 color VGA display screen
PDSWin is a Windows viewer for NASA Planetary Data System (PDS) image
files (i.e., browse (.IBG), compressed (.IMQ), and uncompressed (.IMG)).
PDSWin features include:
- Auto contrast stretch
- Brightness/contrast control
- Browse buttons
- Context sensitive help
- Copy images to clipboard
- Display file label information
- Drag and drop
- Enhanced brightness/contrast control
- Load color palette
- Multiple windows
- Print
- Save images as .BMPs
- Zoom
This version of PDSWIN is copyrighted freeware. As such, it may be freely
copied and distributed but may not be sold. PDSWIN may not be given
away with commercial products without explicit permission from the
author. There is no warranty of PDSWIN's suitability for any purpose, nor
any acceptance of liability, express or implied.
This software is not on any of the CD-ROMs.
This software can be used with the following CD-ROMs:
Galileo, Magellan FMAPs, Magellan MIDRs, Magellan GxDRs, Mars Digital Image Models (MDIM),
Pre-Magellan, Viking Images, and Voyager .
Space Physics Software
The following software is not available on the CD-ROM, but is accessable via anonymous
ftp or on a diskette.
ae_z.exe for the Atmospheric Explorer CD-ROM
helios_z.exe for the Helios CD-ROM
The following is for the Binary version of the CD-ROM only.
de2_z.exe for the Dynamic Explorer CD-ROMs
magsat_z.exe for the MAGSAT CD-ROMs
If you are going to ftp the software, be sure to use your back button on your browser
to return to the CD-ROM Catalog. If you do not, you will lose all the ordering information
you have entered to date
