Dry Valley OHV Area

Dry Valley OHV area is located in Washoe County, Nevada approximately 19 miles east of Wendel on Wendel Road (Lassen County Road 320) or approximately 10 miles west of Sand Pass Road (Washoe County Road #7). Coming from the west, the pavement ends at the California/Nevada Line. Approximately 1.5 miles farther east, on the north side of the road, is a small, minimally developed staging area called the Turn of the Road Trailhead. This is the only developed trailhead for the OHV area.

Even though the Dry Valley area has been utilized by OHV enthusiasts for many years, the construction of the Turn of the Road Trailhead and the installation of a few signs on the trails is the extent of development in the Dry Valley OHV area. This is mainly due to the light use that the area receives. The landscape is mainly high desert with a range of elevations between 4400 and 6000 feet. Many of the trails traverse sandy areas so moisture in the soil helps to settle the soils resulting in better riding conditions. Riders will enjoy the most comfortable riding weather during the spring and fall.

Presently, there are no delineated boundaries of the OHV area; published OHV maps of the area; or designated trails within the OHV area; however, OHV use is limited to existing roads and trails.

This country is within active grazing allotments so many of the roads and trails in Dry Valley cross fence lines. Please leave gates the way you find them. If the gate is open, leave it open. If closed, please close it.
