GLOBE at Night Dataset File Formats and Field Names

FILE FORMATS:
GaN2007.csv - text file with comma-serparated-values

GaN2007.xls - Mircrosoft Excel Spreadsheet format, suitable for direct import into ArcGIS 9.2, AEJEE, and ArcGIS Explorer

GaN2007.mdb - ESRI personal geodatabase for use with ArcGIS 9.x.  NB: this is NOT a standard Microsoft Access database.

GaN2007_shp.zip - Zipped archive containing the 6 files that make up an ESRI Shapfile version of the data.



FIELDS:
id=unique identifier

latitude = latitude

longitude = longitude

LMag = limiting magnitude as determined by magnitude chart observed

SQM = sky quality meter 

pctCld = percentage of cloud cover

commsky = comments on sky conditions

commloc = comments on location

commadd = additional comments

country = country of observation (only GLOBE countries recorded)

submitdttme = Date and time the observation was reported in format YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS where Y= year, M= month, D=day, H=hour, M=minutes, S=seconds

goeIP = approximate location based on computer IP address
