Closely Observed: Photographs of the Natural World
Andrea Baldeck
West Gallery
January 17 through March 27, 2004

Ms. Baldeck’s black-and-white photographs of flowers, leaves, and vegetables show the plants in close-up, intimate detail, dramatically revealing many subtleties that could be overlooked in color portraits. A physician and musician by training, Ms. Baldeck has displayed her photographic artwork in numerous museums, galleries, and other venues, and she has authored several books on non-botanical photographic subjects, including Haiti and Venice. This Closely Observed exhibit most recently appeared at Philadelphia’s Morris Arboretum and at the Holden Arboretum in Ohio.
