The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) and Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) announce the availability of FY 2006 funds for the Development of Comprehensive Drug/Alcohol and Mental Health Treatment Systems for Persons Who are Homeless (Short Title: Treatment for Homeless). The “Treatment for Homeless” program began in FY 2001. Treatment for Homeless grants are services grants authorized under Section 506 of the Public Health Service Act, as amended. This announcement addresses Healthy People 2010 focus areas 26 (Substance Abuse) and 18 (Mental Health). SAMHSA’s Services Grants are designed to address gaps in substance abuse and mental health services and/or to increase the ability of States, units of local government, federally recognized tribes, tribal organizations, and community- and faith-based organizations to help specific populations or geographic areas with serious, emerging mental health and substance abuse problems. SAMHSA intends that its Services Grants result in the delivery of services as soon as possible and no later than 4 months after award. SAMHSA’s
Services Grants may include substance abuse prevention, substance
abuse treatment and/or mental health services. This announcement
is for substance abuse treatment and mental health services. |
