Figure 1 is titled "Serious Mental Illness among Adults Aged 18 or Older, by Age and Gender: 2002." It is a bar graph, where the horizontal axis represents age and the vertical axis represents percent with serious mental illness. The three age categories are: 18 to 25, 26 to 49, and 50 or older. Within each age group, there is a bar for male and a bar for female. For each age group and gender combination, the percentage with serious mental illness is as follows:

Of the age group 18 to 25, 10.0% of males and 16.3% of females have serious mental illness (SMI)
Of the age group 26 to 49, 6.7% of males and 12.2% of females have SMI
Of the age group 50 or older, 3.2% of males and 6.3% of females have SMI.
