Volunteer Opportunities
Do you enjoy working with plants? Become a volunteer at the U.S. Botanic Garden (USBG)! Opportunities are available weekdays or weekends in horticulture, education, and behind-the-scenes activities. Anyone who loves horticulture and is willing to commit to minimum scheduling requirements is encouraged to apply. All volunteers are trained by USBG staff and current volunteers. For more information about any of the volunteer opportunities described below contact Mary Chor at mchor@aoc.gov or (202) 226-1047
.

Horticulture Aide
Assist knowledgeable horticulture staff with the upkeep of the gardens. Greenhouse and garden positions are available for Master Gardeners. Opportunities include working in Bartholdi Park (outdoor garden), the Conservatory (indoor public display gardens), and the Production Facility (USBG's private greenhouse complex).

Educational Outreach Aide
Become a plant ambassador. Through the use of interactive activities such as discovery carts, children's games, and demonstrations you can share your enthusiasm and knowledge of the plant world while helping visitors understand the importance of plants.

Exhibit/Public Programs Aide
If working with the public is not for you, then you might like behind-the-scenes activities. Helping with mailings, writing text for brochures, researching new topics for discovery carts, working with our photo collection, and assisting with workshops and classes are just a few of the possibilities for the Exhibit/Public Programs Aide.

Tour Guide
Lead daily "Highlight Tours" of the Conservatory. Tour Guides participate in a docent training program provided by USBG staff prior to leading tours.

Job opportunities within the USBG can be researched via the internet at www.usajobs.opm.gov. Positions are listed under The Architect of the Capitol, the administering agency for the USBG.
