                                             DATE: February 13, 1996

DESCRIPTION:

The CHECK MODEL feature in GTModeler and GTMenu will compute the

incorrect weight of the structure if the structure contains angle

sections selected from the steel tables. In addition, the INERTIA LOADS

will be incorrect also. In computing the weight of the structure or the

inertia loads, the cross sectional area is either doubled or quadrupled

for angle sections such as single angles, double equal angles and double

angles with the short or long legs back to back. Thus, the weight and

inertia loads will be higher than they should be.

If the input file is generated from GTModeler or GTMenu, the input file

(modlxxxx.inp) will contain the correct table and section name for the

steel tables which contain the correct cross sectional properties. If

the model is translated back to GTSTRUDL by choosing the Command Mode

menu pick, the model will also contain the correct table and section name

for the steel tables which contain the correct cross sectional

properties.

Workaround:

Do not use GTMODELER or GTMenu to create INERTIA LOADS if the model

contains angle profiles selected from the steel tables. The LEAD LOAD

command can be used in Command Mode to create correct inertia loads. The

weight output in GTModeler should be ignored if the model contains angle

profiles selected from the steel tables.
