Steps for Creating Resident Characteristics (RCR) Reports

  1. From the selection menu, select a Program from the following options:
    • Public Housing
    • Tenant Based Vouchers
    • Project Based Certificates
    • Project Based Vouchers
    • Combined Project Based Certificates and Project Based Vouchers
    • Homeownership Vouchers
    • All Voucher Funded Assistance
    • Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation
    • Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation Single Room Occupancy (SRO)
    • All Relevant Programs

  2. Select the desired Level of Information:
    • If you select National, a Report will appear.

    • If you select State, RCR will prompt you to select a state from the State Selection menu. Select the desired State and click the Report button.

    • If you select Field Office, a Field Office Selection menu appears. Select the desired Field Office and click the Report button.

    • If you select Metropolitan Area, you will be asked whether to select Within US or Within A State and then click the Reports button.
      • If you select Within US, you will be asked to select an MSA, and then click the Reports button.
      • If you select Within a State, you will be asked to select a state, then an MSA, and then click the Reports button

    • If you select County, you will be asked whether to select Within a State or Within A State and Metropolitan Area.
      • If you select Within a State, you will be asked to first select the State, then select the County and then click the Reports button.
      • If you select Within a State and Metropolitan Area, you will be asked to first select the State, then select the MSA, then select the County and then click the Reports button.

    • If you select City or Locality, you will be asked to select Within a State, Within a State and Metropolitan Area, or Within a State and County.
      • If you select Within a State, you will be asked to first select the State, then select the City or Locality and then click the Reports button.
      • If you select Within a State and Metropolitan Area, you will be asked to first select the State, then select the MSA, then select the City or Locality and then click the Reports button.
      • If you select Within a State and County, you will be asked to first select the State, then select the County, then select the City or Locality and then click the Reports button.

    • If you select Housing Agency, a Housing Agencies Selection menu appears with the options Within a State, Within a State and County, and Within a Field Office.
      • If you select Within a State, you will be asked to first select the State, then select the Housing Agency from the HA List and then click the Reports button.
      • If you select Within a State and County, you will be asked to first select the State, then select the County, then select the Housing Agency from the HA List and then click the Reports button.
      • If you select Within a Field Office, you will be asked to first select the Field Office, then select the Housing Agency from the HA List and then click the Reports button

        Note: You can select more than one State, Field Office, or Housing Agency from the selection menus. Simply hold down the Control key on your keyboard and click the States, Field Offices, or Housing Agencies of your choice.

  3. The Resident Characteristics report appears on your screen.
    • The default format displays six tabs: Units, Income, TTP, Race/Ethnicity, Household, and Length of Stay and you select the tab to see the relevant data.

    • You will see comparative data for the Level you selected and the corresponding "Within" selections. (For example, if you selected Housing Agency within a State and County, you will see corresponding data for the housing agency, the state, and the county.)

    • In the upper right corner, there are three links: Download in Excel, Print Page, and View Entire Report.
      • Select Download in Excel to download all of report data to a spreadsheet for analysis or use with other data to produce a report.
      • Select Print Page to print out what is displayed on the screen on your installed printer.
      • Select View Entire Report to see all of the data from the six tabs at the same time (this display option toggles back and forth when clicked.
