Workforce Forecasting and Analysis

An important part of succession planning is reviewing the functions of jobs, reviewing the competencies necessary to accomplish the work, and reviewing the way in which the work may be accomplished. The purpose is to ensure a high quality match between jobs and applicants. OPM’s services include consulting with managers and HR staff for the purpose of:

  • Reviewing and analyzing workforce data to determine trends and areas for focus;
  • Developing a list of functions and staff at key locations;
  • Reviewing current recruitment, staffing and retention processes to benchmark and determine best practices; and
  • Reviewing and updating position descriptions, functional statements and crediting plans to identify critical competencies.
