Once the assessment of competency gaps is completed, organizations should develop a plan to address identified skill gaps for leadership and other positions. The plan can include a combination of formal education, coaching and mentoring, special assignments, details, and similar activities.
OPM works with agencies to:
Determine future training and staff development needs;
Assist managers in the design of individual development plans (IDPs) for their employees;
Identify and recommend specific training and development programs related to IDPs; and
Arrange off-the-shelf or customized training opportunities.
