NRC TO MEET WITH TXU
TO DISCUSS SAFETY PERFORMANCE AT COMANCHE PEAK

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will meet with representatives of TXU Electric on Tuesday, March 26, to discuss the results of the agency's annual assessment of safety performance at the Comanche Peak nuclear power plant. The facility, which includes two operating reactors, is located near Glen Rose, Texas, and is operated by TXU.

The meeting, which will be the open to the public for observation, is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in the Somervell County Expo Center, 202 Bo Gibbs Rd., Glen Rose. NRC staff will be available before the meeting is adjourned to answer any questions.

A letter sent from NRC Region IV to TXU addresses plant performance during the period April 1 to December 31, 2001, and will serve as the basis for the meeting discussion. It is available on the NRC web site at: http://www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/LETTERS/cp_2001q4.pdf
