NOTE TO EDITORS:
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has received three reports from its Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards following the Committee's meetings on December 3-5. The reports provide comments on:
-- An interim report on proposed improvements to the NRC inspection and assessment programs;
-- Proposed Commission paper concerning options for risk-informed revisions to 10 CFR Part 50 - "domestic licensing of production and utilization facilities;"
-- Options for incorporating risk insights into the 10 CFR 50.59 process, whereby licensees can make certain changes to their facility and conduct tests and experiments without prior NRC approval.
