No. 98-130 July 29, 1998
NOTE TO EDITORS:
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards has scheduled a meeting of its subcommittee on Reliability and Probabilistic Risk Assessment on August 26 in Rockville, Maryland.
The subcommittee will meet at 10:00 a.m. in Room T-2B3 of the NRC's Two White Flint North Building at 11545 Rockville Pike. The subcommittee will discuss issues in a Staff Requirements Memo dated April 20, regarding specific cases where probabilistic risk assessment results and insights are believed to have improved the existing regulatory system. It also cites cases in which this technique, when applied properly, can have a positive impact on the regulatory process.
Other aspects of the meeting, including an opportunity for public comment, will be described in a Notice of Meeting published in a forthcoming edition of the Federal Register.
