NOTE TO EDITORS:

A Nuclear Regulatory Commission meeting to discuss a safety assessment of the Indian Point 2 nuclear power plant has been rescheduled. Initially planned for Wednesday, May 27, the meeting will now take place on Thursday, June 4, at 1 p.m.

The session will be held in the Energy Education Center at the plant, located in Buchanan, N.Y. It will be open to the public for observation.

In response to NRC concerns, Indian Point 2's operator, Consolidated Edison of New York Company, conducted an Independent Safety Assessment in April, with the results submitted to the NRC earlier this month. The review was designed to provide a better understanding of problems and weaknesses affecting the facility.

The plant, which shut down in October because of electrical circuit breaker problems, remains out of service.
