NOTE TO EDITORS: MILLSTONE MEETINGS SCHEDULED
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has scheduled the following upcoming meetings to discuss the recovery of Millstone Station:
The NRC staff, officials from Northeast Utilities and Little Harbor Consultants and representatives of various public interest groups will brief the commission on Friday, May 1 on selected issues related to the proposed restart of Millstone Unit 3. The meeting -- which is scheduled to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the Commissioner's Conference Room at One White Flint in Rockville, Md. -- is open to the public for observation. NU's presentation will include discussions of the employee concerns program, safety conscious work environment, deferred items management and management oversight and quality assurance. The NRC's presentation will cover the same areas. Little Harbor Consultants will discuss the employee safety concerns program status. The Millstone Units require an affirmative vote by the Commission to restart. A second Commission meeting to discuss the remaining restart items for Unit 3 will be scheduled in the future.
On Tuesday, May 5, at 1:00 p.m., the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Special Projects Office will meet with officials of Northeast Utilities to discuss the findings of the NRC's Operations Safety Team Inspection at Millstone Unit 3 in Waterford, Conn. The meeting will be held at the Leland F. Sillin Training Center at the Millstone site. It is open to the public for observation. On Monday evening, May 11, the NRC's Special Projects Office will meet with the public to discuss the status of the Millstone recovery efforts. The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Meeting Room at the Municipal Complex, 1000 Hartford Road in Waterford. On Tuesday, May 12, at 10:00 a.m., the Special Projects staff will meet with officials from Northeast Utilities and Parsons Power Group to discuss the status of the Independent Corrective Action Verification Program at Millstone 2. The meeting, which is open to the public for observation, will be held at the NNECO offices, 66 Curtis Street in New Britain, Conn.
