NRC STAFF SCHEDULES MANAGEMENT MEETINGS AT OCONEE

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has scheduled two management meetings with Duke Energy officials at the Oconee nuclear power plant on Friday, May 15 to discuss issues of mutual regulatory concern. The meetings are open to observation by the public and the press.

Both meetings will be held at the plant site in the Oconee Office Building (Building 8007) in Room 316. The first, from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., will be held to discuss issues related to an NRC Management Oversight Group and recommendations as to its actions in monitoring performance improvements at Oconee. The second, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., will be held to provide NRC management with an update by plant officials on the Oconee Recovery Plan which is being implemented to improve the reliability of plant systems and equipment.

NRC representatives will be available at the conclusion of each meeting to answer questions from interested observers.
