Commissioner Nils J. Diaz of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a news briefing on Monday, April 6, following his visit to the Millstone nuclear power plant in Waterford, Conn. Commissioner Diaz will be available to answer questions about efforts to restart the Millstone reactors, the agency's oversight of that work and other nuclear-related topics.

The briefing, which is intended for members of the working media, will begin at 4 p.m. at Waterford Town Hall, on Rope Ferry Road.

During his visit, the commissioner will tour the facility and meet with NRC staff members and plant management and employees. He also will meet with representatives of pertinent public interest groups.

Commissioner Diaz has been in office since August 1996. He previously was a professor of nuclear engineering at the University of Florida and director of the Innovative Nuclear Space Power and Propulsion Institute, a national consortium of universities and industry.
