GLOBE Bulletin

March 20, 2002:
All Wisconsin Teachers!

You are invited by GLOBE's Partner, the Office of Space Science Education (OSSE) at the UW-Madison, to learn about the Program and network with GLOBE teachers at the Wisconsin Society of Science Teachers annual conference in April.

On Thursday, April 11th, 9am to Noon, OSSE will hold a three-hour workshop, conducting GLOBE hands-on learning activities and answer questions about the GLOBE program. You also can hear testimonials on how GLOBE has had a positive influence on students. Teachers are invited to come and share their successes and challenges with their colleagues With over 100 GLOBE certified teachers in Wisconsin, this session should help build connections within this community as a resource for teachers and their schools.

On Saturday, April 13th, 9am to 11am, OSSE will hold a GLOBE advanced protocol workshop. OSSE will also answer questions concerning the basic GLOBE protocols. We plan to demonstrate the new photometer for the haze and water vapor protocol and review remote sensing techniques and software (MultiSpec) for interpretation of land cover images of Wisconsin. OSSE will report on updates in GLOBE practices and procedures. Meeting locations will be available at the convention.

For more information on the sessions, contact Dr. Sanjay Limaye at (608) 262-9541 or Margaret Mooney at (608) 265-2123. For more information on the convention, see (http://www.wsst.org/convention/)
