Mauritania Joins GLOBE!
The GLOBE Program welcomes Mauritania as the Program's 106 GLOBE country! On July 6, 2004, the Minister for National Education, El Hacen Ould Mohamed, and US Ambassador, Joseph LeBaron, signed the GLOBE agreement in Nouakchott. The Ministry of Education plans to introduce GLOBE materials in Mauritanian secondary schools.Mauritania schools will now join over 26,000 teachers from more than 15,000 schools worldwide, as the newest members of the GLOBE community. Mauritanian students will now unite with hundreds of thousands of primary and secondary school students around the world who are working in partnership with scientists to collect important data for research about the Earth's environment.
