The historic forest is the most dramatic example of how people shaped the Presidio’s landscape. A new sculpture by artist Andy Goldsworthy entitled The Spire tells the story of the forest (read more about the project). The Spire was constructed in October 2008. Replanting of young trees around the sculpture takes place in November and December. The public will be invited to enjoy the sculpture in late December. In the mean time, enjoy a tree walk or visit a temporary exhibit describing Goldsworthy’s art.
