NCUA Reassigns Alaska and Nevada Supervision

January 6, 2009, Alexandria, Va. -- The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) has reassigned the supervision and examination of Alaska and Nevada credit unions in order to reallocate resources to better meet NCUA supervision objectives and adjust for workload imbalances.

Effective January 1, 2009, Nevada credit unions are reassigned to the Region I office in Albany, N.Y., and Alaska credit unions are reassigned to the Region II office in Alexandria, Va. Affected credit unions have been notified of call report processing and district examiner assignment changes.

The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates, charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), insuring the deposits of over 88 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions.
