New Course in Public Health Informatics. The Uniformed Services University, Bethesda, Maryland, and its collaborator, the National Library of Medicine, are pleased to announce a new course titled Public Health Informatics, which will be offered as an evening course beginning February 17 on the university's campus and ending May 2, 2009. This course represents collaboration designed for the primary purpose of sharing knowledge and building interest in public health and disaster informatics. The primary audience for the course is Department of Defense (DoD) and other government employees (federal, state, local), with a limited number of seats for agency contractors. Enrollment will be capped at 50 students. Interested individuals should review the eligibility and application procedures at http://www.usuhs.mil/publichealthinformatics/. 16th World Congress on Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WCDEM 2009), to be convened May 12-14, 2009, in Victoria, Canada, will be devoted to equipping health professionals to prepare for and respond to disasters and health emergencies around the world. It is the premier event for the discussion of disaster and emergency health. Doctors, nurses, paramedics, health researchers, emergency planners, and any medical professionals involved with disaster and emergency health are urged to attend.
WCDEM 2009 will be a great opportunity for professionals from around the world to share the most up-to-date information regarding the science and advances in health care during everyday emergencies and disasters.
