EPSDT STATEWIDE PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Welcome to the ROAD MAP TO A PIP... We are currently working to gather the appropriate resources needed to collaboratively develop this project. Please check back on Thursday, June 26, 2008 for posted documents and specific Workgroup information.

The State of California Department of Mental Health (DMH) has been expanding its commitment to the planned provision of specialty mental health care in a managed care model of service delivery for Medicaid (Medi-Cal) since 1995. As established, a single managed mental health plan, the county mental health department, is responsible for the provision of services in each county either directly or through contract providers.

Medi-Cal Redesign Spring 2004

As part of an effort by the California Health and Human Services Agency, spearheaded by the Department of Health Services, to redesign the Medi-Cal program to be flexible enough to meet the medical needs of beneficiaries at costs that are affordable to the State of California, the Department of Mental Health facilitated the compilation and analysis of input on issues specific to the specialty mental health program. Two stakeholder meetings were held in March and April 2004. Premeetings primarily for clients and family members were also held. Material available includes agendas, handouts and summaries of those meetings as well as analysis of options and strategies identified.
