Chairman Johnson Scheduled To Testify On Financial Literacy Before The House Financial Services CommitteeApril 9, 2008, Alexandria, Va. – National Credit Union Administration Chairman JoAnn Johnson will join other financial regulators and private sector representatives testifying Tuesday, April 15, 2008, before the House Financial Services Committee on public and private financial literacy initiatives. The “Financial Literacy and Education: The Effectiveness of Governmental and Private Sector Initiatives” hearing begins at 10 a.m. in room 2128 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The National Credit Union Administration charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), insuring the deposits of over 86 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions. NCUA is funded by credit unions, not federal tax dollars.
