Exceptional, Unconventional Research Enabling Knowledge Acceleration (EUREKA) (R01)

The EUREKA program funds exceptionally innovative research that, if successful, will have an unusually high impact. EUREKA targets investigators who are testing novel, unconventional hypotheses or are pursuing major methodological or technical challenges. The potential impact of the proposed research must be substantial in terms of both the size of the scientific community affected and the magnitude of its impact on the community. Features of the EUREKA program include direct costs of up to $800,000 over 4 years and a specialized R01 application focusing on significance and innovation.

For more information about EUREKA, see the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts, August 15, 2008, (RFA-GM-09-008). A list of frequently asked questions about the EUREKA program is available at http://www.nigms.nih.gov/Research/Application/EurekaFAQs.htm.
