U.S. Student Research Teams to Attend the 2008 GLE in South Africa

The GLOBE Program Office (GPO) is pleased to announce five winning U.S. teams to attend the GLOBE Learning Expedition (GLE) in Cape Town, South Africa. These school teams will meet with scientists and students from around the world to present oral and poster presentations on research related to the 2008 GLE theme, GLOBE Research for Sustainable Communities.

The winning schools, and their projects, are:

The Research Competition Review Team, comprised of a panel of Earth system scientists from The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) led by GLOBE Chief Scientist Dr. Peggy LeMone, was pleased by the number and quality of submissions and would like to thank all students who entered the competition.

There is still plenty of time for students to fundraise in their communities to obtain the support they may need. The 2008 GLE in South Africa promises to be an exciting opportunity to meet with students from all around the world who are committed to learning all they can to understand, sustain and improve Earth's environment.
