As described in the Long-Range Plan for 2005-09 (Plan), NIDRR is changing the way it manages grant competitions. NIDRR grants are based on priority notices on specific topics chosen by NIDRR, which are published in both proposed format for public comment and in final format along with notices inviting applications (NIAs) in the Federal Register. NIDRR also has competitions that are based on NIDRR's regulations.

Up until now, individual NIDRR grants were announced throughout the year. NIDRR is now moving toward a single annual announcement and fixed competition schedule. This will have the advantage of allowing potential grantees to better plan application efforts, streamlining NIDRR's work with reviewers, and making the grant award processes at NIDRR more efficient. Thus, for fiscal year 2006, NIDRR has issued a combined notice that references almost all of its grants for the year. The combined notice proposes priorities NIDRR intends to use for Disability Rehabilitation Research Project (DRRP), Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC), and Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center (RERC) competitions in FY 2006.

In addition to priorities included in the combined notice, this web page references other priorities in various stages of completion (A-F), and competitions conducted under NIDRR regulations (G-J).
