THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS BASED ON THE MOST CURRENT DATA PROVIDED TO NOAA. - Evening Report, Friday, 11/9/90 Situation: The vessel was moved this afternoon from the temporary anchorage site to the HIRI Single Point Mooring. It is anticipated that off- loading should begin later tonight and may take 48 hours to complete. Operations: There were some concerns yesterday afternoon about the longitudinal strength of the hull in the vicinity of the pump room where the largest crack was found. Further evaluation and field survey by ABS last night determined that it was safe to move the ship to the SPM for off-loading. The SSC was aboard the ship for the move at the request of the OSC, and will remain on-call in the area until off-loading is completed. Simecek-Beatty and Murphy were not released as planned due to the delay in the ship movement, but it is anticipated that they will be released by Saturday morning. The MASS support team provided weather updates from NWS and wrote a briefing paper on the Barber's Point gyre including a deployment plan for the use of Navy AXBT's. Murphy continued working with MSO and District staff on spill information tracking systems. Plans for tomorrow: SSC will remain in the area on-call and will respond as needed by the OSC. The remainder of the SSC team will be released. SSC will attend 1400 operations meeting. NOAA Personnel On-Scene: Christopherson, Lehr, Simecek-Beatty and Murphy. Departures: Lehr
