4) PROTECTION STRATEGY CONSIDERATIONS
Based on the trajectory and input from the NOAA Scientific Support Coordinator, three
areas of environmental sensitivity should be considered for protection:  1) Pralls Island,
Old Place Creek, and Shooters Island.  If these areas have not been oiled then
exclusionary booming should be considered.  If there is evidence that oil has already
impacted the shoreline at those sites then protection strategies should NOT be employed to
allow natural tidal and wind wave flushing.
