Morro Bay Ammonia Leak

Local fire department Hazmat teams were able to empty the remaining anhydrous ammonia from
the damaged tank by allowing a slow release, keeping a mist of water on the released gas.
The runoff from this mist emptied into the storm drain, but water samples were taken
downstream throughout the operation to monitor ammonia concentrations.


The tank is now empty and the situation is secure.
