Gabon Joins GLOBE!

The GLOBE Program welcomes Gabon as the Program's 103rd GLOBE country. On August 11, 2003, US Ambassador, Kenneth P. Moorefield, and Professor Daniel Ona-Ondo, Minister of Education in Gabon, signed the GLOBE agreement in Libreville.

Representatives from Gabon will be attending the upcoming GLOBE International Workshop in Yaounde, Cameroon, to be held August 25 - September 2, 2003. These trainers will then be ready to teach teachers in Gabon. The Gabon Ministry of Education has already appointed Mrs. Memine Me Zue as the Country Coordinator, and selected 20 pilot schools to launch GLOBE.

"This agreement is of great importance to Gabon. GLOBE will help our students to participate in science and environmental studies in a new worthwhile fashion. The government of Gabon is certainly pleased with this agreement that represent continued cooperation between the US and Gabon," said Professor Ona-Ondo.

Gabon schools will now join over 23,000 teachers from more than 13,000 schools worldwide, as the newest members of the GLOBE community.
