April 29, 2003:
Liechtenstein Joins GLOBE!

The GLOBE Program welcomes Liechtenstein as the Program's 102 GLOBE country. On March 26, 2003, Guido Wolfinger, the Director of the Liechtenstein Office of Education, and Jack M. Zetkulic, Deputy Chief of Mission for the United States Embassy in Bern, signed the GLOBE agreement in Vaduz.

The first high school in Liechtenstein to participate in the GLOBE Program will be under the training leadership of teachers Dietmar Possner, Fritz Epple and Anton Frommelt. A donation by LGT Innovation will support the participation of Liechtenstein in the GLOBE Program with approximately 50,000 Francs toward the purchase of scientific instruments.

"It's been a pleasure working with Liechtenstein to achieve this agreement. The people involved are very dedicated, and I'm confident the students will benefit a great deal from their experience with GLOBE." Zetkulic said.

"We are thrilled to welcome teachers and students from Liechtenstein into the GLOBE Program!" said Lyn D. Wigbels, Deputy Director and Director for International Programs. "We look forward to their active participation in this exciting science and education program," Wigbels added.

Liechtenstein schools will now join over 22,000 GLOBE teachers from more than 13,000 schools worldwide, as the newest members of the GLOBE community.
