The DASIS Report:  Managed Care Substance Abuse Treatment Facilities

Highlights:

  • In 2000, 54 percent of substance abuse treatment facilities had managed care contracts or other arrangements with managed care.


  • Managed care facilities provided both detoxification and rehabilitation more frequently than facilities without managed care.


  • Managed care facilities provided comprehensive substance abuse assessment, comprehensive mental health assessment, family counseling, group therapy, pharmacotherapy, relapse prevention and programs for special populations more frequently than facilities without managed care.
