Though it is one of the larger national parks in the eastern United. States, Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area encompasses less than 20% of the length of the Delaware River and its valley, and only about 2% of the length of the Appalachian Mountains. In terms of history, nature, and recreation, the park is only part of the picture.
If you are planning an extended visit to this area, consider taking the "scenic route" to or from the park. It's more than scenery-- it's heritage, recreation, and the outdoors. It can take more time, but it is time well spent.
Information links on these pages will lead to state tourist agencies, state and county parks and historic sites, and other non-profit sites related to the cultural and natural history of the Delaware River Valley and this park.
