Students at McKinley Elementary in Muscatine, Iowa, are proving that even the youngest students can perform real scientific observations. Every grade level at McKinley is involved in GLOBE. Kindergartner Alec Joseph told a reporter at the Muscatine Journal that he has learned a lot about clouds in GLOBE. "Some of the clouds look like feathers," he reported.

Recently, the fifth graders from McKinley presented their GLOBE activities to second and third graders at Jefferson Elementary School in Muscatine. "I was so impressed with how they explained everything and their delight in sharing with the younger children," reported GLOBE Teacher Vicki Boss.

A grant from the Roy. J. Carver Charitable Trust provided technology support for the school and the Parent Teacher Organization donated funds for the GLOBE instrument shelter. Involvement of a number of teachers has been key to the success of GLOBE at McKinley Elementary. (Photo courtesy of the Muscatine Journal.)
