Area and Road Closures
 

TEMPORARY and CURRENT ROAD CLOSURES and CONSTRUCTION

The Milford-Montague (Rt. 206) Toll Bridge will have single-lane closures and alternating traffic flow from September 15, 2008 through the winter months. The rehabilitation project is scheduled for completion by Memorial Day of 2009.

Broadhead Road in Lehman Township PA is also closed for repair; a detour can be made via Milford Road. (Rt. 2001). As of October 1, 2008, it is hoped that the road will open by the end of October.

For public safety, the park may close River Road within the park (between Shawnee-on-Delaware and Bushkill PA) for maintenance and in times of dangerous driving conditions such as snow, ice, flooding, or high winds.

 

PERMANENT ROAD CLOSURES  

Big Egypt Road PA  is CLOSED permanently.
Johnny Bee Road west of the turn-off to Dingmans Falls is closed permanently.
Flatbrook-Stillwater Road
(Routes 617/627) east of the park no longer connects to Skyline Drive and Blue Mountain Lakes Road within the park. Cars can only reach Crater Lake by approaching from the west via Old Mine Road, Blue Mountain Lakes Road, and Skyline Drive within the recreation area. This is a permanent closure.

 

AREA and FACILITY CLOSURES

Boat Ramps and River Access Points
The boat launch at Kittatinny Point NJ is CLOSED. (The canoe access is open.)
Thunder Mt.  Access NJ is CLOSED.
The south ramp at Dingmans Access PA is CLOSED.

 

TRAIL CLOSURES

None.

 

USUAL SEASONAL CLOSURES

Spring:
Annual Amphibian Migration Closures along River Road PA. These closures occcur typically in early Spring, even if there is still some snow on the ground. Posted under News Releases when applicable.

Fall:
ϑ Dingmans Ferry Bridge usually closes for annual repairs for a week in early September.

Winter:
ϑ Johnny Bee Road to Dingmans Falls is closed with the onset of icy conditions in winter. Due to the shortened periods of sunlight in the ravine this may occur when conditions along Route 209 do not seem icy
ϑ Following heavy snowfall, River Road PA, and Old Mine Road from Worthington State Forest NJ to Millbrook Village NJ may be closed. (Directions to Millbrook through Blairstown)
ϑ Blue Mt. Lakes Road beyond the Blue Mt. Lakes parking lot is closed with the first snowfall of winter. Crosscountry skiers may thus use the road from that point, as well as the Blue Mt. Lakes trails, for skiing.
