Deputy Secretary Troy meets with Japanese Minister for Population and Gender Equality: September 17

Deputy Secretary Troy met with the Japanese Minister for Population and Gender Equality, Madam Kyoko Nakayama.

The two discussed Japan’s declining fertility rate and how the United States has raised its fertility rate in the last 30 years. They also discussed the various systems for child care services in the United States. Minister Nakayama expressed her hope they could continue these conversations on the Deputy Secretary's proposed visit to Japan in November.

HHS has substantial collaboration with Japan on a wide range of issues including pandemic-influenza preparedness and response, polio eradication, and product safety.
