Student Research Projects

Planning a Project & Getting Data

  1. Choose a topic to investigate from Projects or the Teachers Guide.

  2. Use Student Investigations to help plan your project. Investigation activities also has ideas about types of studies you can do with GLOBE data.

  3. Either use data from Data Access (or Schools with the most data), or collect data following the Protocols of your investigation and enter it using Data Entry.

Visualizing & Analyzing Data

  1. Use School Data Search or Data Access to determine the exact data that you will use for your project (and to download the data if you like).

  2. View your data in Maps and Graphs. Some types of data also have Special Visualizations.

  3. Analyze your data and create tables and charts to summarize your discoveries. Can you answer your research questions from your data?

Presenting Your Projects

  1. Write a report or plan a presentation using the Student Investigation Report Format to help you.

  2. Share your findings by presenting your report or presentation at a meeting, science fair, or submitting it to the GLOBE Web site Student Investigations.
