Writing Center

Access writing resources online when you are ready to write. The NIH Library Writing Center website can help you:

  • Find answers to your vexing grammar and punctuation questions,
  • Review examples of abstracts, journal articles, posters, protocols, and resumes,
  • Learn writing tips and techniques,
  • Identify a journal’s impact factor,
  • Organize and format your citations,
  • Request personal assistance with the writing process.

Retreat to a quiet place to write in the NIH Library Writing Center, located on the lower level of the Library, in Building 10. Borrow a laptop, settle into a study carrel, look up a writing reference online or from one of the books on the shelves, and print your draft manuscript during Library open hours.

Receive personal assistance when preparing documents such as a manuscript, a protocol, a case study, or a slide show by requesting an appointment. A librarian on the Writing Center Team can suggest resources and provide editing service to help you get your draft ready for peer-review. Typical editorial service turn-around time is three business days.
