The NIH Library provides locked carrels for use by researchers and staff. These secure mini-offices include:
- a desk
- shelf and bulletin board
- high-speed Internet connection
- wireless capability
- cell phone access
- a locking door.
Five daily locked carrels are available on a first come, first served basis. Keys are due back by the close of business each day.
Eighteen monthly locked carrels may be used for a month at a time. Registration is required and carrels are assigned in the order registrations are received. Users must re-register to request a carrel for another month.
Locked carrels provide a place to focus away from the office and lab. To use a daily locked carrel or register for a monthly locked carrel, stop by the Information Desk in the NIH Library, Building 10.
