images.MD and Biology Image Library: Free Trial Access to Images, Videos, and Slides

During the month of November, the NIH Library is offering free trial access to images.MD and Biology Image Library, two databases that provide medical and biological images, slides, diagrams, and movie clips for incorporation in presentations and personal collections. Use of the images is free when the databases are accessed through the NIH campus network.

images.MD includes over 50,000 images related to internal medicine, contributed by 2,000 medical experts and organized into more than 90 subject collections. With images.MD, you can:

  • create image libraries for reference and instruction
  • add notes to slides in your collections
  • create Power Point® presentations, and
  • email images to colleagues.

The Biology Image Library is an online collection of images, illustrations, movies, and animations in developmental biology, microbiology and parasitology, molecular and cellular biology, plant biology, and neuroscience. Biology Image Library enables you to:

  • download content for lectures and other non-commercial purposes
  • group images into slidesets
  • annotate items in slidesets, and
  • contribute your own content to the collection.
