Chem Sources®, Now at Your Fingertips!

NIH staff, researchers, and procurement specialists now may access this authoritative and widely recognized chemical source directory—an essential chemical buyer's guide—from their desktops.

Chem Sources Online makes chemical sourcing easier than ever before:

  • Helps in locating rare and hard-to-find chemicals.
  • Specializes in laboratory and research quantities.
  • Compiles thousands of chemical manufacturer databases and catalogs into a single organized source.

Chem Sources Online enables you to search in three main categories:

Chemical: Choose from one of three search options: chemical name, CAS Registry Number®, or formula. You may search for full or partial names and narrow search results by geographical region. Of the 250,000 chemical compounds covered, more than 150,000 currently have CAS Registry Numbers® and over 60,000 have formulas.

Application: Search by specific trade name or by application (category) heading. The Trade Name and Application sections list over 25,000 chemical trade names.

Supplier: Search suppliers by company name. More than 8,000 chemical firms located in 135 countries supply products covered by Chem Sources. Each supplier record provides contact information to enable direct inquiries, such as company name, address, phone number, fax number, email address, web address, and sales offices.

To access Chem Sources,
go to the NIH Library Databases webpage and click the entry for "Chem Sources Online."

The Chem Sources website includes access to ChemJobs.net, a database of jobs for chemists that includes postdoctoral position announcements. ChemJobs.net links to the New Scientist Jobs database, which lists hundreds of vacancies and provides email job alerts, RSS feeds, online application forms, and other features for job seekers.
