Providing comprehensive desktop access to the biomedical literature is a significant goal of the NIH Library. With the recent addition of numerous journal backfiles, access extends to the first volume for many titles.
Seamless access means journal issues are appended to existing online journal collections. When viewing a journal through the Online Journals page, links to earlier issues automatically display. When searching PubMed® or another database, articles from as early as 1880 may be viewed by clicking the “NIH Library Full-Text Plus!” button.
The NIH Library recently reached a milestone by offering 98.5% of its current journal titles online. In support of the highest quality research, the Library will continue to expand online access to current articles and the historical journal literature.

Did you know? Always access PubMed and the other NIH Library databases through the NIH Library Web site. Doing so ensures that you are recognized as an eligible user from NIH with access to all full-text content provided by the Library.
