NIH Library books can be renewed for an additional 2 to 4 weeks (based on publication date) if there are no reserves for the books. Requests for renewal can be made by calling (301) 496-5611. You should leave your first and last names, telephone number, and the NIH ID Card number from the front of your badge. The books will automatically be renewed. If there are any problems, you will be notified.
Renew Online! 
Go to Your Library Record in the Online Catalog. You will be asked to enter your name and NIH ID Card number from the front of your badge without dashes in the box labeled "Your Library ID#." Then click the button labeled "Display Record for Person Named Above."
Only permanent staff and Summer Students are pre-authorized for library services. All other users need their Administrative Officers to authorize Library services through the NIH Enterprise Directory (NED). An Administrative Officer can authorize a user for NIH Library services by checking the box marked "Authorize" under the "Services" tab in the NED system. The NIH Library system will be updated within 48 hours of authorization and Library services will be granted at that time.
