NIH Library staff recently completed the NCBI Advanced Workshop for Bioinformatics Information Specialists (NAWBIS). This five-day course is designed for library-based specialists and provides an overview of molecular biology resources used by researchers, clinicians, and public health practitioners.
The NIH Library's information specialists provide bioinformatics support in the following areas:
- Similarity searching, which includes BLAST, multiple alignment tools, tools used to visualize alignments, and RNA structural databases.
- Tools used in protein analysis, which includes viewing molecular structures.
- Resources available to researchers studying expression at the RNA and protein levels.
