GLOBE students at Pepper Pike Elementary have become avid weather watchers, according to their teacher Ms. Patricia Link Owen. ''My kids love this program,'' Owen said. ''They feel like they are a part of something big. Even the simple data they are taking could have far reaching effects.''

A reporter from the Cleveland Plain Dealer visited Pepper Pike Elementary and found the students hard at work taking atmospheric measurements and determining the cloud cover and type. The GLOBE team is led by fourth graders Allison Kronick and Alan Newman. Alison told the reporter she prefers clear, sunny days while Alan cast a vote for cloudy, rainy days.

In April 1998, the students made a presentation on their GLOBE activities before the local board of education. "GLOBE really brings out the best in my kids," Ms. Owen reported.
